eNTRY CRITERIA

Three awards for different scaled airport serving: 

  1. under 5 million annual passengers
  2. 5-20 million annual passengers
  3. over 20 million annual passenger

Reserved for airports that enrich the overall journey for passengers and freight through thoughtful, intelligent design, spotlighting entities that blend aesthetic brilliance with operational excellence.

  1. Harmonious Integration of Technology and Design: Submissions must show a visionary blend of technology and architecture, where digital tools elevate the structural design to create an intelligent terminal. Nominees are urged to highlight the resulting operational supremacy, sustainability breakthroughs, and elevated user experience that outline the footprint of their exceptional designs on the global stage.
  2. Adaptive and Resilient Infrastructure: Submissions must display pioneering adaptability in their design, proving that their terminals are built to thrive amid the aviation landscape’s fluctuations. Nominees should demonstrate how their projects stand resilient, capable of scaling and flexing to accommodate the unpredictable nature of travel and trade, thereby guaranteeing enduring service excellence.
  3. Unparalleled User Experience for Passengers and Freight Operators: Entrants must portray terminal designs that prioritises the needs and aspirations of both passengers and freight operators. Submissions should exemplify a commitment to intuitive navigation, serene environments, and logistical proficiency as cornerstones of their transformative approach. Illustrate role in crafting memorable journeys for passengers and streamlined, reliable operations for freight, establishing robust intermodal links to improve transfer times between transport methods.

Three awards: 1 for airports, 1 for logistics integrated facility, 1 for rail/port

Reserved for cargo hubs that exemplify unrivaled efficiency, innovation, and connectivity, transforming the logistics and freight sector. The Best Cargo Hub Award celebrates facilities that not only meet the intricate demands of global supply chains but elevate the standards through pioneering strategies and solutions. This recognition seeks to spotlight airport cargo hubs that harness cutting-edge technologies, implement sustainable practices, and foster synergistic partnerships to streamline operations, enhance capacity, and drive economic growth.

  1. Operational Excellence: The nominee should demonstrate superior efficiency and reliability in cargo handling, showcasing a seamless integration of processes that ensure swift, secure, and sustainable movement of goods.
  2. Innovation and Technology: Emphasis will be on hubs that leverage technological advancements to optimize operations, improve safety, and enhance customer service. Innovative use of data analytics, automation, and digital platforms to anticipate market trends and adapt to changing supply chain dynamics will be a key consideration.
  3. Global Connectivity and Collaboration: Candidates must exhibit an outstanding ability to connect and collaborate within the global trade ecosystem. This includes fostering partnerships, expanding networks, and effectively integrating with international logistics channels to facilitate smoother, faster, and more cost-effective cargo transit.

Evidence of optimised turnaround times, efficient resource allocation, proactive problem-solving, and consistent adherence to operational standards will be key indicators. 
  2. Outstanding Customer Satisfaction: This highlights the ground handler’s commitment to exceeding the expectations of their airline clients, passengers, and cargo stakeholders. Submissions should demonstrate a strong focus on clear communication, proactive support, flexibility in meeting diverse needs, and a track record of positive feedback and strong partnerships. 
  3. Strategic Integration of Market-Leading Technologies: This criterion assesses the ground handler’s proactive adoption and effective implementation of cutting-edge technologies to enhance their services. Evidence of leveraging advanced systems for automation, data analytics, communication, safety, or sustainability, and demonstrating tangible benefits from these technological integrations, will be considered.

This category honours the most groundbreaking innovations shaping the future of terminals, celebrating ventures that tackle critical challenges, redefine industry standards, and demonstrate exceptional potential for positive impact. 

  1. Disruptive Technological Breakthroughs: Entrants are challenged to showcase innovations that overturn the status quo, signalling a new dawn of airport operational efficiency. Submissions must give concrete proof of how their ingenuity in AI, robotics, or other pioneering sectors is redefining the future of flight and freight handling. They should also provide quantifiable evidence of innovation, such as patents filed, technology unique adaptations, or pioneering sustainable methods implemented within the past 12 months.
  2. Impactful Application and Measurable Outcomes: Submissions must encapsulate not just innovation, but transformation. Nominees must present their concepts as case studies of effective application, with a focus on tangible and measurable improvements that resonate across the airport landscape.
  3. Scalability and Adoption Potential: Nominees are required to illuminate the scalability of their innovations, presenting concepts robust enough for widespread implementation. Submissions must argue their potential to catalyse a ripple effect of progress.

Applicants should provide quantifiable evidence of innovation, such as the introduction of unique service models, novel product offerings, technology-driven enhancements to the customer journey, or pioneering commercial strategies implemented within the past 12 months.
  2. Enhancement of Customer Experience and Value Proposition: Submissions must demonstrate a clear and positive impact on the customer experience within the airport or logistics facility. Participants should include data or qualitative feedback illustrating improved customer satisfaction, increased engagement, or the provision of unique value that caters to the specific needs of travellers or facility users.
  3. Tangible Impact on Revenue Generation and Operational Efficiency: Nominees are required to present case studies or verifiable data illustrating the positive impact of their commercial innovation on revenue streams and operational efficiency. This should include quantifiable metrics such as increased sales, improved transaction values, optimized resource utilization, or enhanced operational processes resulting directly from the innovation.

2 Awards: 1 airport, 1 vendor

Honouring the vendor that leads by example in environmental stewardship, this category spotlights initiatives and/or solutions that significantly reduce the airport or logistics facility’s environmental impact, promote sustainability, and contribute to the global effort against climate change.

  1. Demonstrable Innovation in Sustainability: Entries must exhibit distinct and measurable advancements in sustainable technology or practices. Applicants should provide quantifiable evidence of innovation, such as patents filed, technology unique adaptations, or pioneering sustainable methods implemented within the past 12 months.
  2. Compliance with International Sustainability Standards: Submissions must demonstrate strict adherence to at least one recognized global sustainability standard or accreditation. Participants should include documentation of compliance, such as certificates or third-party verification, to support their adherence to these rigorous benchmarks.]
  3. Tangible Impact on Community and Ecosystem: Nominees are required to present case studies or verifiable data illustrating the extended impact of their initiatives. This should include benefits not only to their immediate operational environment but also to the broader airport community, showcasing improvements in ecological health, economic benefits, or social well-being.

RULES & REGULATIONS

  1. All stakeholders in the airport design, operations and innovation industry and related sectors may join the Awards.
  2. Participants may nominate their own company or another eligible company.
  3. Eligible companies are allowed to submit as many nominations across all six (6) categories.
  4. Submissions must include a clear timeframe. The project should have been initiated or completed within the past three (3) years, that is, from 2022 to 2024.
  5. Entries must be submitted in English. Supporting materials, such as videos in other languages, should include English subtitles.
  6. Submissions must be completed using the official portal at awards.superterminalexpo.com. Any incomplete or late entries may be disqualified. All entries should be in by 14 September 2025 23:59, GMT+8.
  7. All entries must adhere to ethical and legal standards, respecting intellectual property rights and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  8. The Awards Committee reserves the right to request additional information or clarification from the nominees, if needed.
  9. The decision of the judging panel is final and binding. No correspondence or discussion regarding the judging process or decision will be entertained.
  10. Finalists and Winners may be requested to participate in promotional activities related to the Awards, including interviews, press releases and social media campaigns.
  11. By submitting an entry, nominees grant STE/Informa Markets permission to use it for promotional, publication and publicity purposes. If photos and videos are submitted, nominees agree that STE/Informa Markets has the right to publish/upload them without charge, while submitters retain responsibility for any copyright fees and usage rights.
  12. The Awards Committee reserves the right to disqualify any entry that violates the rules, contains false information or is deemed inappropriate or irrelevant to the Awards’ objectives.
  13. The Awards Committee reserves the right to modify or cancel any category or change the rules if circumstances require it, with prior notice to the participants.
  14. Participation in the Awards implies acceptance of all rules and conditions stated by the Awards Committee.
  15. Nominees that have been selected as finalists will be notified by Super Terminal Expo. Finalists will need to send at least one representative to Super Terminal Expo Awards and Gala Dinner.
